Deborah Webster is an emerging artist whose primary goal is to enrich her clients' visual arts experience though personal connection.
Her working career includes experience as an executive in the biotech industry; five years as a lead coach for a running and self-esteem building program for girls in 3rd - 5th grade; and as a co-founder of Madrone Arts, an artist cooperative fine arts gallery on the central coast of California.
Webster dedicated two years of her mid-life to her recovery from spinal surgeries to fuse the majority of her spine. During this period, she focused on relearning physical tasks including the challenge of walking without support. While some physical limitations remain part of her present life, these also elicit the gift of her heightened sensitivity to and compassion for other living beings, especially those encountered in nature or with special needs.
Since 2017, she has studied a vast array of fine arts mediums, including printmaking; metal casting; oil, water color, encaustic and acrylic painting; pastel; mixed media composition; cold wax; Italian mosaic; glass fusing; and South American textiles. These studies not only assisted in Webster's discovery of her chosen methods of artistic expression, but also helped to guide her in the educated selection of Madrone Arts’ exhibitions.
Webster's creative process often begins with inspiration from her hikes on the California coast, triggered memories, or even the evocative power of a single color. While her work can take on an illustrative style, her intention is to communicate a distinct mood or feeling.
She is grateful for her ongoing studies with generous and talented artists, including Stella Zhang, Mark Eanes (CCA), Laurel True, Katie Hawkinson (Stanford University), Katie Gilmartin (Chrysalis Studio) and Fran O’Neill.
Webster’s artwork is featured in homes throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.
